Ingredients
Toor dal – 1 small glass
Water – 2 and ½ glass
Palak – 1 cup
Turmeric powder – ¼ tbsp
Tomato – 1 Finely chopped
Onion – 1 Finely chopped
Red chilli powder – 1 Tbsp
Coriander powder – ½ Tbsp
Coriander leaves – ¼ Cup
Oil – 1/2 tbsp
Ghee – 1 Tbsp
Jeera – 1 tbsp
Curry Leaves – 5
Salt to Taste
Method
- Wash Toor dal twice and add it to a Pressure cooker. Add water, turmeric powder, oil and cook for 2 whistles.
- Once dal is cooked. Take out excess of water to a vessel and mash dal completely and add it to same water in the vessel. Mix well.
- Heat ghee in a pan. Add jeera wait until it crackle. Add Curry leaves, onion fry until it is light brown then add palak fry about 1 minute.
- Add tomato, red chilli powder, daniya powder and salt cook about 2 minutes and mix this with cooked dal. Let it boil for about 1 minute.
- Garnish with Coriander leaves. Add salt if needed.
Hot Palak dal is ready to serve with Jeera Rice or plain rice.
