Ingredients
Tomato – 2
Onion – 1
Red chilli – 3
Chana dal – 1 tbsp
Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
Curry leaves – 5
Oil – 3 tbsp
Water – ½ cup
Salt to taste
Tempering
Oil – 1 tbsp
Curry leaves – 4
Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp
Method
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds wait until it crackles.
- Add chana dal and urad dal wait until it turns light brown.
- Add curry leaves, red chilli and chopped onion. Fry until it turns light brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until tomato become soft. Takeout from the flame. Let it cook down completely.
- Add this mixture and salt to a blender. Blend it to a nice paste. Takeout to a serving bowl.
- Tempering: Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds wait until it crackle. Add curry leaves and switch off the flame. Add this on top of chutney.
Tomato chutney is ready to serve with dosa or idly.
