Ingredients
For dough
Rice flour – 2 cups
Water – 4 cups
Salt – Pinch
For filling
Poppy seeds – ¼ cup
Sesame seeds – ¼ cup
Jaggery powder– 1 cup
Grated fresh coconut – ¾ cup
Bengal gram – 1 cup
For kadubu
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Parchment paper
Method
For dough
- Add water to a vessel and bring it to boil. Add rice flour, salt and let it boil for 5 minutes.
- Drain water and mix well to make a dough.
- Add drained water if required to make a soft dough. Cover it and keep it aside.
For filling
- Dry roast below mentioned each ingredients and keep it in separate cups.
- Poppy seeds
- Sesame seeds
- Bengal gram
- Add Bengal gram to a blender and blend it to a nice powder. Takeout to a bowl.
- Add poppy seeds with 2tbsp of Bengal gram powder(To avoid poppy seeds to become paste) and blend it to powder. Takeout to the same bowl of Bengal gram powder.
- Now add sesame seeds with 2tbsp of Bengal gram powder( to avoid sesame seeds to become paste) and blend it to powder. Takeout to the same bowl as above.
- Mix all powders well along with jaggery powder.
Filling is ready.
- Add grated coconut to the filling and mix well just before u start making kadubu.
Method to Prepare kadubu
- Make small balls out of dough.
- Grease Parchment paper with ghee and place one dough ball on it. Using fingers make it to a small circle.
- Place 2 tbsp of filling on it. Fold the edges and seal it ( Lift an edge and bring it over other edge, so the filling is completely covered)
- Start folding the sealed edge to make a design from one end to other.( This is optional. If you don’t want any design u can skip). Keep it on a Serving plate.
Tasty Sweet kadubu is ready to serve.
