Baby Corn Manchurian


Preparation time: 30 Minutes | Cook time: 20 Minutes


Chopped baby corn – 2 cups

Maida (All purpose flour) – 4 tbsp

Corn flour – 3 tbsp

Black pepper powder – 2 tbsp

Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp

Garlic – 2

Onion – ½ Finely chopped

Capsicum – ½ Finely chopped

Lemon juice – 1 tbsp

Soya sauce – 1 tbsp

Tomato sauce – 2 tbsp

Water – 1 cup

Oil for frying

Salt to taste


  • Add maida, 2tbsp of corn flour, 1 tbsp of black pepper powder, red chilli powder and salt to a bowl mix well. With enough water make a medium consistency batter.
  • Add baby corn to the batter. Mix well. Keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a Pan. Check if its hot enough by adding a drop of batter to it. If it Raises to the Surface immediately then oil temperature is Perfect for frying.
  • Fry baby corn in hot oil until it turns light brown and crispy. Takeout on to a plate. Keep it aside.

Manchurian Sauce preparation

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped garlic, onion and capsicum. Fry for about 1 minute.
  • Add soya sauce, tomato sauce, Red chilli powder, 1 tbsp of black pepper powder and lemon juice. Cook about 1 minute.
  • Take 1 tbsp of corn flour in a bowl. Add little water and mix well. Add it to the pan. This acts as a thickening agent.
  • Check the consistency. If it is too thick add little water and saute for about 5 seconds.
  • Add fried baby corn. Mix well with the sauce.
  • Takeout on to a serving plate. Serve hot.
