Amaranth leaves sabji (Dantina soppu palya / Red spinach sabji )


Preparation time: 15 Minutes | Cook time: 15 Minutes


Amaranth Leaves – 1 Bunch

Onion – 1 Finely chopped

Green chilli – 3 Finely chopped

Garlic – 8 Finely chopped

Grated coconut – 1/4 cup

Oil – 2 tbsp

Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp

Salt to taste


  • Wash leaves twice and finely chop them. Keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and wait until it crackles.
  • Add garlic and saute for a minute let it turn light brown.
  • Add onion, green chilli. Cook until onion become soft.
  • Add chopped leaves and cook until leaves become soft for about 3 minutes. No need to add extra water.
  • Add salt and grated coconut. Mix well.

Healthy Amaranth leaves sabji is ready to serve with rice and sambar.
